Mr. Towhid Bin Muzaffar has completed his Master’s degree in Linguistics from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. He also did his BA from the same university in English Literature and Linguistics. He worked for several years as a Research Assistant at the Department of Linguistics, Memorial University before returning to Bangladesh in 1998.
He has been teaching in the Department of English at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) from June 1998. He has been the Head of the Department of English since 2014. His areas of interest include Historical Linguistics with special emphasis on Algonquian and Indo-European languages; endangered languages; and computational linguistics. He has been working as an IELTS Examiner since 2004 and Examiner Trainer since 2015.
He has been working with his colleague, Mr. Haroonuzzaman, on a project funded by IUB entitled Preservation of Endangered Languages of Bangladesh since 2012. He has jointly published several papers on two endangered languages – Lahra and Mahale. They have published a book on Lahra and are now working on a dictionary of the Mahale Language.
